Bulimba Master Plan Begins

28 August 2015

A detailed master planning process has begun for the riverfront Bulimba Barracks site. Deicke Richards has partnered with McGregor Coxall and Buckley Vann to work on the project.

Brisbane City Council will lead the master plan process ahead of the planned sale of the land. The 21 hectares is owned by the Department of Defence and is expected to attract extraordinary interest from the community and developers.

The BCC master plan will guide future development on the land and is scheduled to be complete by the end of October.

Deicke Richards has extensive experience in master planning for local authorities and the state government, most recently leading the master planning for another prime riverfront site, Yeerongpilly Green.

“We are looking forward to working with Brisbane City Council on the project and recognise the importance of the land — to the surrounding community and the city,” said Deicke Richards Associate Director Stephen Smith. “We’ve worked closely many times with Buckley Vann, here and in regional Queensland, but this will be our first partnership with McGregor Coxall,” he said.

“They’ll bring exceptional environmental urbanism, landscape and public realm experience to the team, with recent examples of their work including Parramatta City River Plan and Barangaroo’s Water Plan Strategy.”
