Grantham rebuilds
31 May 2011
Working in close consultation with the Grantham community and Lockyer Valley Shire Council, Deicke Richards is honoured to have designed the new master plan for Grantham.
Grantham was the single most devastated community following the 2011 Queensland floods. Work on the community’s master plan began in February and was completed in just four months.
The master plan includes a vision for the existing town, including new residential blocks, parkland and a significant investment in new community infrastructure. It also includes an unprecedented voluntary land-swap initiative, allowing residents to relocate to higher ground. Residents participating in the land-swap arrangement will move to a 935-acre land parcel, adjacent to the township and outside the flood-zone.
With the master plan complete, the Queensland Government has released the Proposed Development Scheme for the Grantham Reconstruction Area and this will be open for public consultation until 23 June.
Deicke Richards Director Cameron Davies said the practice was privileged to have been asked to assist with planning for Grantham’s reconstruction and recovery.
