PARK(ing) Day in the forest

22 Sep 2011

Our Baxter Street carpark turned into a beautiful, temporary forest last Friday – marking international PARK(ing) Day.

Clients, colleagues and friends joined us for a picnic in the park.

PARK(ing) Day calls attention to the importance of open public space in the city and this year there were sites in Fortitude Valley, the CBD, Paddington and West End.

Deicke Richards has participated in four PARK(ing) Days and sees the event as a fun, community spirited way to advocate for open space in the city. The event prompts communities to rethink how our streets are used and sparks conversations about sustainable cities.

Our site was designed by landscape architect Arno King and interior designer Magda Myszkowski, with support from Dig-It! Landscapes, Pallara Trees, Leda Security and furniture and lighting designer Darcy Clarke. The site’s forest theme was chosen, in recognition of international year of the forest.
