Peter Richards gives keynote presentation at Subtropical Cities 2011

Deicke Richards Director Peter Richards was one of six international keynote speakers at Subtropical Cities 2011, hosted by the Florida Atlantic University.

The conference theme this year was Subtropical Urbanism: Beyond Climate Change.

Peter was among keynote speakers including Andres Duany, a principal with Duany Plater-Zybert and Company, recognised new urbanist leaders; Kenneth Yeang, leading ecodesigner and green design thinker; Guy Nordenson, a professor of structural engineering and architecture at Princeton University and structural engineer for the Museum of Modern Art expansion in New York; Bruno Stagno, Founder and Director of the Institute for Tropical Architecture; and John Todd, a pioneer in the emerging field of ecological design and engineering.

His presentation focused on high-density place types and settlement typologies for the subtropical future. The four-day conference, from 8-11 March, was co-hosted by Queensland University of Technology.
