QUT: Subtropical Tower Typology charrette

The Centre for Subtropical Design has followed its successful rowhouse and multi-residential research projects, tackling the subtropical tower, with heights up to 30 storeys.

Richard Hassell, from acclaimed architectural practice WOHA, in Singapore, acted as mentor for the project.

The site for the charrette’s focus was the RNA and Lend Lease acted as an industry partner.

Shane Thompson, a Principal at BVN Architecture and design leader for the RNA redevelopment, led the two-day charrette.

Four creative teams participated from Cox Rayner, DBI, Cottee Parker and QUT. Deicke Richards Director and Chair of the Centre for Subtropical Design Board, Peter Richards, joined the QUT staff and graduates team.
