Village@Parap construction begins

Construction has begun on a $40m mixed-tenure development, Village@Parap, in the Northern Territory.

The project developer is established Territory-based company, Sitzler, working in collaboration with the Northern Territory Government.

Village@Parap is a major redevelopment of public housing stock and the first mixed-tenure development in the Territory, offering private, public and affordable housing. Deicke Richards is designing 100 units comprising 35 units for affordable rental properties, 10 for senior public housing and 55 for sale on the private market.

The project is part of the Northern Territory Government’s ‘Housing the Territory’ strategy. The Australian Government has made a $13.5m contribution under its Nation Building Economic Stimulus Plan.

Village@Parap is due for completion in 2012.
