Glenelg Street Master Plan

Client: South Bank Corporation

Glenelg Street provides significant access to South Bank and connects the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre (BCEC), local TAFE, Brisbane State High, Musgrave Park and the Rydges and Mantra hotels to the parklands.

This master planning project involved straightening and re-aligning Glenelg Street for better traffic clarity and provision of the maximum footpath width to both sides of the street. A new steel bus canopy was introduced at the BCEC and a similar structure was installed adjacent to Rydges South Bank Hotel. The structures provide shelter, amenity and a directional way finding element within the parklands precinct. Glenelg Street was also landscaped with particular emphasis on creating a boulevard of street trees.
