Life Cycle Housing, Bribie Island

Client: Churches of Christ in Queensland

This is an innovative 87 unit residential development at Bribie Island, providing low income rental housing aimed at seniors. The project is located within a larger Churches of Christ site, which also provides residential aged care and independent living units. The nature of the development responds to policy change and a commitment to creating communities where seniors can ‘age in place’.  Within the development, 75% of the units are wheelchair accessible and 20% are fully compliant with the Australian Standard for Access and Mobility. The project which includes three storey apartments and two storey townhouses, is due for completion early in 2012.

The apartments are funded under the Nation Building – Economic Stimulus Plan – Social Housing Initiative, which is administered through the Queensland Government. The project responds to the Federal Government’s objectives of providing integrated communities, with affordable housing options and improved social inclusion.
