This was one of the first enquiry by design workshops Deicke Richards was engaged to complete for Mackay Regional Council. The workshop’s purpose was to investigate design and planning options that would provide alternative ways to accommodate the growth that both townships were experiencing. The workshop examined a number of themes and options for Marian and Mirani, as well as considering the regional perspective of how each township related to each other and to the broader Mackay urban framework. The information produced at these workshops has informed Local Area Plans for these settlements.
This work was awarded the PIA Qld Award for Planning Excellence for Planning Achievements in Small and Local Communities in 2010.
