Logan City Council engaged Deicke Richards to prepare a set of Public Domain Guidelines to control public realm elements including streets, planting, street furniture, paving and bicycle parking for centres in the emerging residential area. The guiding principle behind the document is that the street is the most important setting for a wide range of activities within coherent, compact, walkable centres. Its design and detailing should create comfortable pedestrian spaces that allow for interaction and enjoyment.
The manual was developed to assist planners and designers in determining finishes and furniture to create high-quality activity centres. The Design Manual has been organised on the basis of street type, ensuring finishes and street treatments are consistent throughout the Park Ridge Structure Plan Area.
This work was completed in 2009.
