This award winning master plan, prepared in conjunction with EDAW and Macroplan, will assist in transforming the land surrounding the Varsity Lakes rail station into an attractive and vibrant mixed-use community, a hub of activity focused around high quality transport.
The Varsity Lakes station was the first new rail station delivered under the South East Queensland Infrastructure Plan and Program.
The master plan provides for a wide variety of housing types, employment opportunities, shopping, and social activities situated within walking distance of public transport connections to other Gold Coast destinations and to Brisbane.
A form-based design approach to building outcomes encourages subtropical building forms up to 12 storeys, taking advantage of views from the site to the ocean and the hinterland.
The master plan won the prestigious Karl Langer Award for Urban Design in the 2009 RAIA State Awards and the 2008 PIA Queensland Awards for Excellence, Transport Planning, Award for Excellence.
