Woolloongabba UDA

Client: Urban Land Development Authority

This significant structure planning and master planning commission was completed in 2010 for the Urban Land Development Authority (ULDA).

The Woolloongabba UDA will be a transit oriented precinct incorporating residential, retail, commercial, employment, recreation and community facilities, highly serviced with public transport, pedestrian and cycle accessibility. The design integrates the complex infrastructure requirements of the Cross River Rail, and a 12 platform busway hub with a highly connected pedestrian structure, while still maintaining significant development imperatives on a compact site. At the core of the precinct will be a new urban park and plaza, supporting a full range of land uses including a variety of dwelling styles and sizes.

The delivery program was extremely tight, set by key implementation imperatives. Regular, targeted consultation and key stakeholder design workshops ensured transparency of the design process and capacity building with a broad range of agencies.

The scale, intensity, amenity and development proposed on this pivotal inner city site will help redefine the image of Woolloongabba and Brisbane city. The level of integration of transit and habitat will change the collective understanding of what the heart of a transit-supportive community can be.

The work was completed in 2010.
