Client: Department of Local Government and Planning and Brisbane City Council

The development of a transit oriented development (TOD) is proposed for Yeerongpilly, on a government owned site 6km from the CBD. Deicke Richards led the consulting team to develop a concept plan of development. This has been a complex urban design project with a wide range of stakeholders. It proposes a TOD surrounding the significant historic buildings of the former Animal Research Institute and creates a strong public link between the Queensland Tennis Centre and the Yeerongpilly Rail Station. The plan proposes a vibrant mixed-use precinct with a variety of housing types supported by commercial and retail uses. A precinct wide approach to sustainability offers new and integrated ways to manage amenities and services, including car use, water and electricity.

This work was commissioned by the former Department of Infrastructure and Planning and Brisbane City Council. DMA, Buckley Vann, Cambray Consulting, Archipelago, Ecolateral, Gilbert & Sutherland, Resolution, Urban Economics, Bornhorst & Ward, Terrain, CRG, EMF Griffiths and Rider Levett Bucknall worked with us on the project. The concept plan of development was completed in late 2010 with works on an early release commercial parcel of land commencing in 2011.
