Community Design

Community design is a term loaded with different meanings in different eras. It has a particular currency in Queensland and other parts of Australia as our communities rebuild after recent natural and manmade disasters.

Community design is most directly understood as design with a social purpose. For Deicke Richards, this idea is central to the practice’s culture and is expressed through a range of projects.

A commitment to community design has led to rewarding pro-bono planning and design initiatives for clients who might not otherwise seek or access professional design advice.

Our community design commissions include schools, housing and projects for not-for-profit organisations. Our consultative approach assures clients that their stakeholders will be heard.

We understand how design makes a difference in community building.
