Interior design

DR’s interior designers work closely with the architectural teams, contributing to projects across sectors and at all scales.

The interiors work of the practice has been recognised in regional and national awards this year. DR was shortlisted in two categories of the prestigious Australian Interior Design Awards and awarded Best of State in the residential category for Crescent House. DR’s work for the Stella Maris Catholic Church at Maroochydore was also shortlisted in these national awards and the Queensland Architecture Awards. The Stella Maris interiors respond to a coastal, subtropical context and feature bespoke lighting and sanctuary furniture.  The project also profiles the work of local manufacturers and artisans.

DR’s interiors team has extensive experience in working with our education clients and is also intensively involved in our work in seniors living and aged care. DR works with commercial and not for profit aged care providers in regional and metropolitan centres and the design of these interiors is critical to achieving the planning and sensory outcomes that contribute to the well-being of residents.

The interior design team also has award-winning experience in the adaptive re-use of heritage buildings. Its work in sensitively re-purposing heritage buildings includes an inner city legal office and the transformation of a group of 19thcentury defence buildings.

We pay our respects to First Nations individuals and communities - past, present and emerging - and consider them integral to conversations about our evolving cities. Brisbane and surrounds are located on the custodial homelands of the Yuggera, Turrbal, Yuggarrapul, Jinabara, Quandamooka and neighbouring nations.
